HELP!

“I love you but I’m not in love with you” was what she told me
What does that even mean?
How can you say you love a person and still say you’re not in love with the person in the same sentence?
She didn’t dignify my question with a reply
She smiled and said “one day you’ll understand” and she walked away.

That was five years ago but I still don’t understand
Who can explain it in the way I can understand?

      1. Really? Ha!!
That is how complicated and mysterious things can be when it comes to matters of love and emotion. I understand the ladies answer to a measure. However, when it comes to relationships, women have more of a fecund imagination than men, all things being equal. And there are are subjective situations that even with objectivity one cannot answer. So I agree when he says he still doesn’t understand. So come and explain ma’am ā˜ŗļøšŸ˜‰
